Chapter 10: ICT as Platform for Change

• What I learned?

              --Within this lesson, I’ve learned how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a platform successfully achieved social change. I also understand how it helps an individual be reached out through this very encouraging technologies. ICT as a platform can be used to influence such a million people to pursue changes or call for an action. And because of this the roles of ICT in the recent history has been successfully accomplished. It became a usable stand to help finding out the lost relatives of the country been destroyed by typhoon Yolanda, also it was used to communicate within million of people to protest a particular leader in the government, or also you can have a petition using the change.org. There are many things we can do with the ICT because as a platform we can use it to attain changes.

--I think it depends on how you answered the test seriously, it looks like they base it on how many of the statement did you agree or otherwise.

Do you think your results are believable?
--YES, because I think my second dream is to be a businesswoman in future.

Lesson 9: Interactive Multimedia

I have learned in this lesson that multimedia has so many uses in our daily social life, mostly in education. Multimedia refers to the sound, text, video, animations and any type of media we use within the online world. Throughout this definition of multimedia, I had spot the difference of it to an interactive multimedia. Interactive Multimedia defines as the system that allows user to control, combine and manipulate this type of media (multimedia). I also learned the contents of multimedia which includes the online games, online test, courseware, podcasts, vodcasts and the rest are similar with what I had mentioned earlier (video and sound, music or audio). Additionally, because of this lesson I learned how to create a post using the blogger.com, how to post a video even without using the HTML.

Lesson 8: Collaborative ICT Development

     Within this lesson, I've learned the Web Portal and the different Collaborative Tools. I understand that the Web portal is a specially design website that brings us information. Examples are the E-mail, Online forums and Search Engines. I also learned the examples of an Online Collaborative which are the Facebook Groups, WordPress, G Suite, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Microsoft Office Online, Microsoft’s Yammer,  Trello, and Web Portals. This lesson helps me understand and recognized the importance of Online Collaborative Tools.

Lesson 7: Online Platforms as Tools for ICT Content and Development

        

      This lesson entitles Online Platforms as Tools for ICT Content and Development. Within this lesson, I learned so many things like the different types of online platforms and applications. And understand the purpose of using it. Example of Online Platforms that we commonly use are the Social Media, Blogging, Presentation, etc. In Social Media, there are three applications given and they are the twitter, facebook and tumblr. Social Media allows us to create, share an information to others that’s why we usually use this type of platform. Next thing that I learned is all about blogging. Blogging looks like a diary or a newsletter. Through this platform you can share all your experiences and within this site you are allowed to choose a design for your blog. Another one is the Online Presentation. Example of this platform is the Prezi, Zoho, Slideshare and Mindmeister. This platform is used to communicate information efficiently by the use of statistical graphics, plots or information graphics. Apart from those 3 online platforms that I learned are Cloud Computing, Web Page Creation and Mapping.  Furthermore, I also learned to apply web designs through the online applications, platforms and creation tools. Thanks for this lesson, I learned so many things online.

Lesson 6: Imaging and Design For Online Environment

This lesson entitled Imaging and Design for Online Environment. In this lesson, I understand the Basic Principles of graphics and lay out and they are Balance, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, repetition and rhythm, Proportion, and Variety. And I also encounter again the topic about Infographics whish means Information graphics that is used to represent information, statistical data or knowledge in a graphical manner. Additional, infographic must be done in a creative way so that you can attract the viewer’s attention. The picture beside is an example of infographic entitles “Little Things about me”. I also learned the 3 Tips to help me edit images for my website, and it is by choosing right file format, choosing right image size, and by putting a caption. Also, I acquire 5 Basic techniques of editing images including the Cropping, Color balance, Brightness and contrast, Compression and resizing, and Filters. My learnings in this lesson will be an advantage for my future study, if ever I want to make a site or a page.

Lesson 5: Advanced Presentation Skills

Within this lesson, my skills of creating a PowerPoint presentation improves better that before. I learned how to change background if you don’t like the given designs. I learned how to insert pictures, applying it to all slides. Also, how to put animation within text, transition within slides, the types of views like the notes page view wherein can help you deliver your presentation clearly. That simple knowledge helps me a lot with our group presentation in Organizational Management, and became proud when my teacher praise the PowerPoint presentation that I made. What a lucky day! Lesson 4: Advanced Spreadsheet Skills

        Now, this lesson gives me more knowledge about the functions in Microsoft Excel. At first, I don’t know how to use the Microsoft Excel, and I was only familiar about it but when it was taught I realized that this Excel has so many things to do for my future job. That’s why, I got inspired to listen with my teacher’s discussion. Range, sum, cells, formula, max, min, average, count, sumif, countif, averageif, those are the words that doesn’t leave in my mind like a bird trapped. Yeah, that’s true! And do you know that I just lately used my learnings on this with my sister’s data analysis, and like wow, computations are made easier through this Excel. Thank You!

Lesson 3: Advanced Word Processing

In this lesson, I learned a lot about using the Microsoft Word. I learned the parts of the Microsoft word, how to create letters or documents to various recipients, and also the different kinds of materials like pictures, clip art, chart, screenshot, shapes, smart art, etc. Mailings, I always see that tab within the Microsoft Word but I never took a chance to go visit that tab and learned it. I don’t even know that Mail Merge, the different use of square, tight and through. But thanks for this lesson, I experience making so many letters and I didn’t feel any hard while doing. Additional, in pictures, I was informed that .jpg is a short term of Joint Photographic Experts Group , that .png is for Portable Network Graphics and .gif short for Graphic Interchange Format. I also learned about how to place image within the text, and they are in line with text, square, tight, through, Top and Bottom, behind the text and In front of text. This lessons that I learned are the best thing that gives me lot of knowledge about the Microsoft Word which I can be use when I got a job in the future.

Lesson 2: Rules of Netiquette

       

     This lesson helps me to get aware of internet threats that it is not only happening in physical world but also in online world. I also learned many ways to be safe within social networking sites. To be a responsible user, protect your account and your identity by not sharing your information in online. Even we say that Internet is a great help for us and it is the source of entertainment, there is always a side that it will take us in danger if we do not know how to deal with this. As I learned, the best things we could do to stay safe in online is to read the Terms and Condition, checking the Privacy Policy Page to know how the page handles the information you shared, never post anything about your future vacation and do not share your password with anyone.  Safety is more important not the way you post and be famous in online, remember, Think Before You Click. Within this lesson we also tackled about the Copyright Infringement and Online Research. And as usual, I learned the ways to avoid copyright infringement which you must be responsible, be creative, be informed about law and you must know to understand. In online research, I learned different tips to conduct an online research optimally, this lesson helps me a lot to become a knowledgeable person in terms of online.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Information and Communication Technologies

           

       ICT, I don’t even know this word the first time I encounter it. But when I learned something about this, I recognize that it is the phones, laptop or any gadgets, internet that I use to communicate with others. Within this lesson, I also learned the different web like the web 1.0, web 2.0 and the web 3.0. And learns the abbreviation www. Is the short term for World Wide Web and created by Tim Berners Lee. In web 1.0, I learned that it is a web wherein we, as a user can’t manipulate the page. In web 2.0, I learned that this web allows us to interact with the page and this is the most website we visited today. Features of this web are Folksonomy, Rich User Experience, Long Tail, User Participation, Software as a Service, and Mass Participation. And lastly, the web 3.0 wherein its aim is to have a machine that can understand the user’s preferences to be able to deliver web content definitely pointing the user. This web if we understand can really help us when we are searching but there is a several problems why we can’t reach the standards of web 3.0; Compatibility, Security, Vastness, Vagueness, and Logic. I also learned about the Trends in ICT like the Convergence, Social media, Mobile Technologies, and the Assistive Media. In social media, I acquire the different types of it and they are Social Networks, Bookmarking Sites, Social News, Media Sharing, Microblogging and Blogs and Forums. And in Mobile Technologies, I acquire the different kinds of Operating system; the IOS, Android, Blackberry OS, Windows Phone OS, Symbian, Web OS, and the Windows Mobile. Many lessons like this helps me go through a lot a knowledge about technologies and internet world.
